CHURCH SECRETARY - Faith Lutheran Church of Huntington Beach has an immediate opening for a part-time (18-hours per week) church secretary. Denomination preference is not an issue, but the position does require a Christian perspective. The church secretary is responsible for many of the administrative aspects involved in the effective running of the church, to include, but not limited to church bulletins, miscellaneous newsletters, mailing lists, etc.  This position also acts as a liaison with members of the congregation, the staff, and the community, in person, on the phone and via e-mail.

AM CHURCH SECRETARY NEEDED - Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cypress CA is looking for a part time morning secretary to start in June 2011.  The position of the Church Secretary is a very special ministry and important in a church setting. This position is a direct support to the pastor and one of the first persons the public sees and talks to. It is also a key point of contact for parishioners seeking help and connection with the pastor and church staff. The person selected to this position should be a Christian with general and office skills, who truly feels "called to Christian service," and who is willing to go "above and beyond" the personal investment in a job that is considered "normal" in the secular world of work. This position includes serving as receptionist, screening phone calls, producing printed and power point materials for services and assisting volunteers. ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF RECRUITMENT AND ADVISEMENT - The Associate Director of MAIS Recruitment and Advisement is primarily responsible for two areas: recruiting and student services. As a recruiter, the individual must recruit and admit students who meet the academic, employment, legal and psychosocial expectations of the program as provided by the MAIS Program/Dean of Asia Programs. Recruitment activities will be organized and budgeted annually so that targets set will be met by established deadlines.

 As a student services coordinator, the Associate Director of MAIS Recruitment and Advisement is also responsible for student enrollment & retention, academic counseling, database management, mediation of student issues, summer term logistics, and other duties as related to the management and operation of the MAIS program, particularly in the US. Student records will be kept, maintained, and updated and sent to the MAIS Associate Director at established and regular intervals. 

Ideal candidate should possess a B.A. or B.S in international studies or a related field. Strong preference for candidates with experience in international educational work in China and/or Asia. Experience working with Hobsons customer relations software is desirable.

CONTROLLER (Full Time or Part Time) - The Controller is responsible for developing and coordinating financial records of the university and for producing financial reports, statements and special analysis as requested and for the development of budget plans, budget comparison reports and other comparative data, overseeing commercial banking and investment activities, analysis of financing alternatives and debt administration. He/she is responsible for managing finance office operations and staff to ensure records are kept up-to-date and accurate, credible and auditable entries are made on a timely basis. Ideal candidate must have an undergraduate degree in accounting and a minimum of 5 years related industry experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller. CPA certificate is highly desirable. This position may be structured as full time or part time, depending on the needs of the university and the qualifications of the applicant.

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS FOR THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT - The Director of Operations is responsible for coordinating and implementing logistical and operational needs of Concordia's Music Department from daily management of facilities and equipment to large-scale performances, tours and events. Responsibilities include:

  1. assist all music professors in coordinating schedules, facilities, recitals, student communication and basic business services;
  2. assist music students regarding students' music department related records, scholarship information, applied lesson registration, scheduling recitals, managing student accounts;
  3. manage university performing arts box office for theatrical and music events, tours, fund raisers, student employment and general information and assistance;
  4. develop, design and distribute promotional materials for music and theatre, including generating and distributing press releases to local press and websites;
  5. collaborate with the department of University Advancement on patron relations as well as with the office of the Provost, Registrar & Bursar's Office, Office of the Dean of Arts & Sciences and University Services.

Ideal candidate should have a background and experience in music and/or arts management, preferably a bachelor's degree in any appropriate area; business/office experience also desirable.

DIRECTOR OF FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE PROGRAMS & INITIATIVES - The Director of First Year Experience Programs & Initiatives ensures that our new students at Concordia University are intentionally engaged into the university community through a variety of support programs. Also, the role of the director is to ensure the increase in new student retention rates through a variety of assessment-driven initiatives. The director understands and implements programs that serve academically at-risk students. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience working in first year experience and retention programs in a college/university community setting, with the majority of years of experience in a leadership role preferred; Master's degree in College Student Affairs, Administration, Counseling, or related field; experience working in a Christian liberal arts institution is highly desirable.

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT - The Associate Director of Development is responsible for developing donor relationships and solicitation strategies among mid-range annual donors and prospects and major gift prospects. Working with the Executive Vice President for University Advancement, faculty, and the Foundation staff, the Associate Director will devise marketing strategies and outreach opportunities to attract mid-range prospects. He/She will place a major emphasis on the development and cultivation of new prospects and the stewardship of assigned donors. Successful candidate should have a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT - The Executive Director of Development (EDD) is a leadership position reporting to the Executive Vice President for University Advancement and providing supervision and direction to the university’s development operation to secure philanthropic support for the university. The EDD will provide leadership and strategic direction in developing and implementing a comprehensive plan that includes annual giving, major gifts and planned giving programs. The EDD is directly responsible for supervision of the Donor Visitation Team, monitoring and managing group and individual goals and progress toward them. The EDD is responsible for developing relationships and solicitation strategies among major gift donors and prospects ($10K+). The EDD must be available to travel and spend periods away from home and the office. MA and/or CFRE preferred and seven years of experience in fundraising or development with an additional three years in a management role.

HEAD TRACK & FIELD/CROSS COUNTRY COACH - The Head Coach is responsible for providing Christian leadership principles to a successful men's and women's track & field/cross country program within the framework of the mission of the university and the intercollegiate athletic department. ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR AND ACADEMIC PROGRAM DIRECTOR INDUSTRIAL/ORGANIZATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY ADULT DEGREE COMPLETION PROGRAM

The Program Director is responsible for the overall implementation and direction of the CU Accelerate Industrial/Organizational Psychology (pending program approval) adult degree completion program (bachelor’s level) including organization, development, assessment, management, coordination, and budget management.  Responsibilities will also include recruitment, student advising, service to the university, research, and other academic or administrative responsibilities as assigned.

 

ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF BIOLOGY – Concordia University, Irvine, CA, seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position in its School of Arts and Sciences in the area of biology.  The successful candidate will have a terminal degree in an appropriate area, preferably genetics, biochemistry, or molecular or cell biology.  A strong understanding of the interconnection between faith and science is desired along with evidence of exemplary teaching skills.  Expertise or interest in undergraduate research in biological areas is highly encouraged and welcomed.  Responsibilities will include teaching at all levels in the biology curriculum, student advising, assessment, and service to the university.  Candidates should have a terminal degree in biology or a related field.
